Cinder Toad Slime

Known Region

Cinder toad slime is the viscous secretion that is produced by Cinder Toads who can often be found in volcanic marshes and jungles in the south. Unlike regular toad slime, this mucus is able to retain heat. This makes it perfect for potions and things that need a pinch of heat to it, in the literal sense. It is a translucent amber with crimson streaks marbled through it.

Properties

This slime has three distinct qualities as an ingredient. For one, it is able to absorb and retain heat for several hours. Two, it is a flammable material and a great fire starter. Finally, it is a wonderful stabilizer for potions and things that use fire essence and unstable ingredients.

Generally, it is best used in potions that require some heat or stabilizing. I often use it in Ashwind Draught.

Gathering and Preparation Instructions

Gathering this mucus is simply just harvesting the extra mucus secretion that happens during egg laying season. They use it to insulate eggs and the extras are easy to scrape off of the underside of the frog. Generally you can gather about a liter of mucus. Store in jars and in a sunless place for best keeping. Alternatively, you are able to enchant it to have a longer shelf life.
